Inventory Monitoring & Management Is Reliable and Safe
Monitor Technologies LLC is pleased to introduce the SiloPatrol® SE, the Second Edition of its industry leading SiloPatrol® inventory management system for bulk solids storage! The SiloPatrol® SE is the next generation of 21st century smart cable-based level measurement sensors and extends Monitor’s ability to provide the most reliable bulk solids inventory management solution at the best value, even in the most harsh and dynamic of conditions.
SiloPatrol SE uses time-proven weight and cable technology and combines Hall effect sensing techniques (patent pending), microcontroller technology, state-of-the-art optics and SMT (surface mount technology) to produce a rugged, reliable and accurate measuring system in challenging extreme environments. This reliable inventory monitoring and management system eliminates the need for plant personnel to climb silos to determine material levels and allows users to automate their inventory management of the material stored in silos.
SiloPatrol SE uses the patent pending Hall effect sensing techniques to provide measurement diagnostic information, allowing the SiloPatrol SE to make decisions ensuring accurate and reliable measurements, even during harsh dynamic conditions. This improves plant maintenance by making this product virtually maintenance free. Other advanced aspects of the SiloPatrol SE product line include a new split-compartment enclosure to isolate electronics from the process, a relocated process seal for fast and easy maintenance (if required), the availability of a standalone analog transmitter version with automatic measurement updates, and an AC/DC pulse output version. A programmable relay output for the analog output version is also available. All versions are provided with a lockout input to inhibit measurements, an industry best measurement resolution of 0.01ft (3mm), and a freeze-resistant mounting flange. The unit is available for use in Ordinary and Hazardous locations.
A choice of operator interface exists, including the latest generation of SiloTrack™ inventory management software, Version 3.5, now ready to interface with Monitor’s line of Flexar™ guided wave radar level sensors as well as the new SiloPatrol SE sensors.
According to Joe Lewis, Vice President - Marketing & Sales, “with decades of experience in cable-based technology our customers have come to expect industry leading technology and service from Monitor even in the most difficult environments. The SiloPatrol SE is no exception.”

Why Use Solids Flow Monitors?
Assist in detecting problems & increasing automation
From complex automated systems with pneumatic lines
to straight-forward gravity chutes, solids flow monitors can help
to improve process performance. They are effective in detecting flow
problems, as well as enhancing the level of automation at a facility.
Solids flow monitors can assist in detecting problems in flow caused
by equipment failures, plugged lines, leaks, material bridges upstream,
low or no material, etc. They can also be used to add automation
to a process like opening or closing valves, turning a conveyor on
or off, and initiating a process function (spraying of a product
additive).
The Model SFI and SFD-2 line of solids flow detectors from Monitor
Technologies, LLC provide analog or relay outputs to indicate the
flow / no-flow condition of powder and bulk solids materials in chutes
and pneumatic conveying lines. Using microwave Doppler radar technology
these units are non-invasive and extremely reliable and rugged to
withstand the rigors of the installation and your process extremes.
Since there are no moving parts, these monitors can provide dependable,
low-maintenance service for many years.
Solids flow detectors like the Model SFI and SFD-2 can be used
in applications for a
variety of industries including construction materials (cement, sand,
gypsum, etc.), wood chips / sawdust, feed mills & grain processing,
consumer foods (cereal, coffee, sugar, cocoa, powdered milk, barley),
plastics, chemicals & pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and more.
One customer uses the analog signal from a Model SFI unit to monitor
the flow of carbon black in toner cartridge manufacturing to ensure
positive flow before further processing and to detect no-flow and
possible plugged conditions. Another company uses the Model SFD-2
solids flow detector to monitor the flow of coal into the burner
of a coal-fired power plant to detect no-flow conditions and ensure
safety.
Whether a solids flow monitor is used to detect problems, increase
automation or both,
the end result is a substantial long term cost
savings through: eliminating product waste,
cutting “downtime”, reducing employee time spent on watching
the processes or cleaning up spills/messes, increasing product quality
(reducing defective product), and decreasing maintenance time / replacement
costs on other methods of flow detection.
