Inventory Monitoring & Management Is Reliable and Safe
Monitor Technologies LLC is pleased to introduce the SiloPatrol® SE, the Second Edition of its industry leading SiloPatrol® inventory management system for bulk solids storage! The SiloPatrol® SE is the next generation of 21st century smart cable-based level measurement sensors and extends Monitor’s ability to provide the most reliable bulk solids inventory management solution at the best value, even in the most harsh and dynamic of conditions.
SiloPatrol SE uses time-proven weight and cable technology and combines Hall effect sensing techniques (patent pending), microcontroller technology, state-of-the-art optics and SMT (surface mount technology) to produce a rugged, reliable and accurate measuring system in challenging extreme environments. This reliable inventory monitoring and management system eliminates the need for plant personnel to climb silos to determine material levels and allows users to automate their inventory management of the material stored in silos.
SiloPatrol SE uses the patent pending Hall effect sensing techniques to provide measurement diagnostic information, allowing the SiloPatrol SE to make decisions ensuring accurate and reliable measurements, even during harsh dynamic conditions. This improves plant maintenance by making this product virtually maintenance free. Other advanced aspects of the SiloPatrol SE product line include a new split-compartment enclosure to isolate electronics from the process, a relocated process seal for fast and easy maintenance (if required), the availability of a standalone analog transmitter version with automatic measurement updates, and an AC/DC pulse output version. A programmable relay output for the analog output version is also available. All versions are provided with a lockout input to inhibit measurements, an industry best measurement resolution of 0.01ft (3mm), and a freeze-resistant mounting flange. The unit is available for use in Ordinary and Hazardous locations.
A choice of operator interface exists, including the latest generation of SiloTrack™ inventory management software, Version 3.5, now ready to interface with Monitor’s line of Flexar™ guided wave radar level sensors as well as the new SiloPatrol SE sensors.
According to Joe Lewis, Vice President - Marketing & Sales, “with decades of experience in cable-based technology our customers have come to expect industry leading technology and service from Monitor even in the most difficult environments. The SiloPatrol SE is no exception.”

The TrueCap® Model MK-2
RF Capacitance point level probe is designed to provide a superior
and stable sensitivity threshold making it suitable for a variety
of powder / bulk solids and some liquid or slurry applications.
Advanced features of the Model MK-2 include: > Automatic immunity to material build-up on
the probe by its driven shield design > Push-button calibration > Enhanced temperature compensation > Maximized reliability via smart sensing algorithms
like “self-validating” fail-safe protection > Visible status LED on ordinary location units > Versatility through a variety of configuration
options including: hazardous location version, split architecture
design, quick-connect process connection, stub probe, cable extensions,
solid extensions, Nylon® probes, Ryton® - equiv. probes,
etc.
A practical application for the TrueCap would be to use this level sensor where
a residual material build-up on a different sensor would cause a false material
level indication.
Principle of Operation for the TrueCap RF Capacitance Level
Probe:
The vessel wall and the active probe element establish an impedance reference
between each other when exposed to air which has a dielectric constant of 1.
When materials with a dielectric constant greater than 1 are in close proximity
to the probe, the impedance of the sensing field between the sensor and the vessel
wall will change. Once the amount of change exceeds a threshold that was electronically
determined during the calibration process, an output relay will either be energized
or de-energized depending upon the position of the fail-safe selector on the
probe’s electronic circuit board. A change of as little as .5 pico-farad
is all that is necessary for the probe to sense the presence of material.
