Point Level Measurement Technology Made Easy
Elburn,
IL. — Never before has finding the right
point level instrument for solids, liquids or slurries
been so easy.
Monitor
Technologies Point Level Interactive Product Guide is a useful
reference tool not to be missed. This six CD multi-media
guide assists you in selecting the most suitable point level
instrument for a specific application, and avoid the cost
and wasted man hours associated with misapplication.
The
first CD features a unique question and answer software program
that allows users to describe a specific level measurement
application. This software uses your answers to compute and
display the point level product(s) suited for your specific
application need. The user is then directed to the applicable
product guide for further examination of the technology selected.
The
interactive product guides, CD2-CD5, are devoted to Rotary
Paddle, RF Capacitance, Vibratory and Mechanical point level
instruments. To learn more about a product simply insert
the appropriate CD and you will be able to view information
such as how the device works, typical applications, features,
installation tips, and key specifications. All interactive
product guides contain product literature, contact information,
and a link to the Monitor website.
All
the information contained on the first 5 CDs will be condensed
and included on the final sixth CD. CD6 will include new
features, such as the ability to create a product code and
email a “Request For Quotation” to Monitor.
The Interactive Product Guide is a part of Monitor’s SecureCareSM customer
service. SecureCare is unequaled education, service, and support that provide
durable instrumentation having the lowest total cost of ownership. Each interactive
product guide contains a presentation on SecureCare and the philosophy behind
our excellent customer service.
You
can obtain your free copy of the Point Level Interactive
Product Guide by contacting Monitor directly, or contacting
any local Monitor sales representative. Initial shipments
will include a jewel case of four CDs for convenient storage.
User registration in required to ensure delivery of CD5 and
CD6.
Elburn,
IL. — Monitor’s Flo-Pad bin aerator
promotes the flow of any dry bulk powder or granular material
from bins, hoppers and silos. Such materials are highly aerated
when entering the storage vessels, and flow quite easily
entering the vessel by pneumatic or gravity feed. After being
in storage for a time, the air escapes and allows the material
to pack, and behave more like a solid mass than a fluid mixture.
Flo-Pad uses multiple Evassers mounted on a single air plenum
chamber to create multi-directional air release and re-fluidize
stored material.
Flo-Pad
is virtually maintenance free and does not create noise or
damaging vibration, like pneumatic or electric actuated vibrating
devices. The Evassers have a standard neoprene boot that is
designed to prevent material backflow. In addition, the Evassers
are less likely to become clogged due to moisture, as are aerators
that use cotton or canvas to diffuse the air.
Flo-Pads
can be used for virtually any application. They are available
in 18 in. (457 mm) and 60 in. (1524 mm) sizes, having 8 and
28 Evassers respectively. The most effective aeration of dry
bulk materials is typically achieved by use of multiple rows
of Flo-Pads, one row located in each quadrant of the sloping
vessel bottom. Flo-Pad maintains a constant 2 to 5 psi (0.14
to 0.35 bar) supply of air. Units are also available for higher
pressures of up to 80 psi (5.5 bar), to dislodge and move highly
settled materials, and for high temperature applications.

bin aeration products.
The TrueCap® Model MK-2
RF Capacitance point level probe is designed to provide a superior
and stable sensitivity threshold making it suitable for a variety
of powder / bulk solids and some liquid or slurry applications.
Advanced features of the Model MK-2 include: > Automatic immunity to material build-up on
the probe by its driven shield design > Push-button calibration > Enhanced temperature compensation > Maximized reliability via smart sensing algorithms
like “self-validating” fail-safe protection > Visible status LED on ordinary location units > Versatility through a variety of configuration
options including: hazardous location version, split architecture
design, quick-connect process connection, stub probe, cable extensions,
solid extensions, Nylon® probes, Ryton® - equiv. probes,
etc.
A practical application for the TrueCap would be to use this level sensor where
a residual material build-up on a different sensor would cause a false material
level indication.
Principle of Operation for the TrueCap RF Capacitance Level
Probe:
The vessel wall and the active probe element establish an impedance reference
between each other when exposed to air which has a dielectric constant of 1.
When materials with a dielectric constant greater than 1 are in close proximity
to the probe, the impedance of the sensing field between the sensor and the vessel
wall will change. Once the amount of change exceeds a threshold that was electronically
determined during the calibration process, an output relay will either be energized
or de-energized depending upon the position of the fail-safe selector on the
probe’s electronic circuit board. A change of as little as .5 pico-farad
is all that is necessary for the probe to sense the presence of material.
