Elburn,
IL - The SiloPatrol® Inventory
Monitoring System is the first truly robust cable-based
smart sensor system. It is a field-proven approach to
reliably monitoring the level of material in bins, silos
and tanks up to 150 ft (45.7 m) in height. Setting SiloPatrol apart
from the competition is the durable sensor, variety of
operator interfaces and optional accessories.
The
heart of any inventory monitoring system is the sensor
itself. The Silo Monitoring Unit (SMU) sensor requires
no field adjustments and provides virtually maintenance-free
operation. The SMU is suited for most any application
and can be equipped with various mounting flanges and
plumb bobs.
The SiloPatrol system
also offers the most sensor interface choices. A multi-functional
Human Machine Interface (HMI) connects with the SMU
and incorporates a robust electronic design. SiloTrack™ PC-based
Inventory Management Software provides a flexible graphical
interface for up to 128 “smart” output
sensors. SiloTrack is
network capable and provides remote inventory management
options. Also available is an ActiveX® software
package that simplifies the integration of the “smart” output
SMUs into an existing PLC/PC control system.
Optional
accessories for the SiloPatrol system
include an affordable Wireless Sensor Interface, Auxiliary
Output Enclosures (AOE) with relay and analog outputs
and a Remote Display Unit.
Elburn,
IL - Without the noise and damaging
vibration caused by pneumatic or electric vibrators, Monitor's
Evasser bin aerator promotes the flow of dry bulk powders
from a storage vessel. The compact, low-cost Evasser requires
virtually no maintenance and has an effective radius of
12 inches.
Several
configurations are available to fit the Evasser to most bulk
powders and granular solids applications. The Evasser itself
can be provided in either cast iron or 316 stainless steel
construction. While normally supplied with a black Neoprene
boot, a FDA approved white Neoprene boot is also available.
For high pressure or high temperature applications where
the boot is not acceptable, a sintered metal insert can be
provided. In addition, each of these configurations is available
with or without an external mounting plate.
Some
typical applications for the Evasser include cement, carbon
black and flour.
The TrueCap® Model MK-2
RF Capacitance point level probe is designed to provide a superior
and stable sensitivity threshold making it suitable for a variety
of powder / bulk solids and some liquid or slurry applications.
Advanced features of the Model MK-2 include: > Automatic immunity to material build-up on
the probe by its driven shield design > Push-button calibration > Enhanced temperature compensation > Maximized reliability via smart sensing algorithms
like “self-validating” fail-safe protection > Visible status LED on ordinary location units > Versatility through a variety of configuration
options including: hazardous location version, split architecture
design, quick-connect process connection, stub probe, cable extensions,
solid extensions, Nylon® probes, Ryton® - equiv. probes,
etc.
A practical application for the TrueCap would be to use this level sensor where
a residual material build-up on a different sensor would cause a false material
level indication.
Principle of Operation for the TrueCap RF Capacitance Level
Probe:
The vessel wall and the active probe element establish an impedance reference
between each other when exposed to air which has a dielectric constant of 1.
When materials with a dielectric constant greater than 1 are in close proximity
to the probe, the impedance of the sensing field between the sensor and the vessel
wall will change. Once the amount of change exceeds a threshold that was electronically
determined during the calibration process, an output relay will either be energized
or de-energized depending upon the position of the fail-safe selector on the
probe’s electronic circuit board. A change of as little as .5 pico-farad
is all that is necessary for the probe to sense the presence of material.
