June 2002: SiloTrack™ • SFD-2

SafePoint™

NEW Version 2.0 Inventory Monitoring Software

Elburn, IL - SiloTrack™ Inventory Management Software Version 2.0 has expanded capabilities and many enhanced features. This PC-based application provides users with an unsurpassed flexible graphical interface for use with SiloPatrol® SMU "smart" sensors.

The most notable change in SiloTrack is the addition of server/client capability. Together SiloTrack Server and Client software can provide inventory management to a virtually unlimited number of users via LAN, Internet/WAN or Dial-up modem. Users of the SiloTrack system can be both internal and external to a facility. This allows for easy implementation of remote inventory monitoring and vendor managed inventory applications.

Some enhanced features include the ability to export history or alarm data, receive alarm notification via e-mail, fax or pager, and to initiate analog/relay outputs via Monitor's Auxiliary Output Enclosures. The silo graphics have also had a makeover to give them a 3-D look.

Additionally, SiloTrack can setup auto, manual or auto/manual measurements and four alarms/relays per silo. SiloTrack also displays distance, level, volume, weight, percent-full values, alarm, relay and sensor status.

SiloTrack Version 2.0 can monitor up to 128 silos and is easy to setup and use. The software is compatible with Windows® 98, NT, 2000, Me and XP Pro/Home.

Superior Application Versatility

Elburn, IL - Due to its excellent sensitivity range, use of microwave technology, and product design, Monitor Technologies' Model SFD-2 Solids Flow Detector, has superior application versatility.

Typical applications include detection of flow stoppage or for verifying flow/no-flow conditions in pneumatic conveying lines. The ability to work with a wide variety of powder and bulk solids, ranging from heavy materials to light particles, is also evidence of the outstanding sensitivity range and application versatility.

The SFD-2 uses low-power microwaves to sense motion. Microwaves are virtually unaffected by heat, humidity, ambient light, pressure, vacuum, high or low temperatures, or dust. This provides the SFD-2 with maximum effectiveness in industrial applications.

The non-contact SFD-2 contains no probes that protrude into the chute or line. This ensures process integrity because probes or moving parts can wear out or break off in the material flow. The ability to sense through most non-metallic surfaces allows the SFD-2 to have a non-intrusive flush mounting.

TrueCap® MK-2
Advanced RF Capacitance Level Probe

The TrueCap® Model MK-2 RF Capacitance point level probe is designed to provide a superior and stable sensitivity threshold making it suitable for a variety of powder / bulk solids and some liquid or slurry applications.

Advanced features of the Model MK-2 include:
> Automatic immunity to material build-up on the probe by its driven shield design
> Push-button calibration
> Enhanced temperature compensation
> Maximized reliability via smart sensing algorithms like “self-validating” fail-safe protection
> Visible status LED on ordinary location units
> Versatility through a variety of configuration options including: hazardous location version, split architecture design, quick-connect process connection, stub probe, cable extensions, solid extensions, Nylon® probes, Ryton® - equiv. probes, etc.

A practical application for the TrueCap would be to use this level sensor where a residual material build-up on a different sensor would cause a false material level indication.

Principle of Operation for the TrueCap RF Capacitance Level Probe:
The vessel wall and the active probe element establish an impedance reference between each other when exposed to air which has a dielectric constant of 1. When materials with a dielectric constant greater than 1 are in close proximity to the probe, the impedance of the sensing field between the sensor and the vessel wall will change. Once the amount of change exceeds a threshold that was electronically determined during the calibration process, an output relay will either be energized or de-energized depending upon the position of the fail-safe selector on the probe’s electronic circuit board. A change of as little as .5 pico-farad is all that is necessary for the probe to sense the presence of material.
