Low Cost Smart Transmitter

Low Cost Solution
for Liquid Level Applications

Elburn, IL - The> BulkSonics® Low Cost Liquid Smart Transmitter is a smart, compact level transmitter. Using non-contact ultrasonic principles, the transmitter offers excellent performance and value for a wide range of liquid applications. The non-contact feature of ultrasonic technology makes these products ideal for use with corrosive or sticky materials and other factors that make contact level measurement impractical, unreliable or undesirable.

Two measuring ranges are available. The Model LST60e has a range of 33 feet (10 m). The Model LST80e has a range of 20 feet (6 m). Each unit is provided with a scalable 4-20mA output and a relay. HART® communications can also be provided.

Programming and setup of the LST60e/LST80e low cost smart transmitters is accomplished via simple touch-magnet system. A second programming option is detailed setup via HART® communications.

VibraRod™

New Solids Level Sensor
Provides Application Versatility

Elburn, IL - Monitor Technologies' new VibraRod™ vibrating rod sensor provides reliable point level sensing in a wide variety of applications within powder and bulk solids market. This easy to setup sensor requires no calibration and provides reliable solid state electronic circuitry.

The single-probe vibrating rod design utilized by the VibraRod overcomes typical application difficulties associated with changes in material, electrical dielectric constant, temperature or humidity. Using a single-prong probe eliminates the potential problems such as material build-up and false signaling, which are associated with dual-prong "tuning-fork" type probes.

The VibraRod line of vibrating rod point level sensors is offered in standard length, cable extension or pipe extension versions. The standard length version extends into a vessel approximately 9 inches (235 mm). The pipe extended version can be used to extend the measuring rod up to 118 inches (3 m) and the cable extended unit can be used to extend the probe up to about 65 feet (20 m). Each version can be provided with either a plastic or aluminum housing. All VibraRod units are provided with local indication using a bi-color LED and a traditional relay output.

TrueCap® MK-2
Advanced RF Capacitance Level Probe

The TrueCap® Model MK-2 RF Capacitance point level probe is designed to provide a superior and stable sensitivity threshold making it suitable for a variety of powder / bulk solids and some liquid or slurry applications.

Advanced features of the Model MK-2 include:
> Automatic immunity to material build-up on the probe by its driven shield design
> Push-button calibration
> Enhanced temperature compensation
> Maximized reliability via smart sensing algorithms like “self-validating” fail-safe protection
> Visible status LED on ordinary location units
> Versatility through a variety of configuration options including: hazardous location version, split architecture design, quick-connect process connection, stub probe, cable extensions, solid extensions, Nylon® probes, Ryton® - equiv. probes, etc.

A practical application for the TrueCap would be to use this level sensor where a residual material build-up on a different sensor would cause a false material level indication.

Principle of Operation for the TrueCap RF Capacitance Level Probe:
The vessel wall and the active probe element establish an impedance reference between each other when exposed to air which has a dielectric constant of 1. When materials with a dielectric constant greater than 1 are in close proximity to the probe, the impedance of the sensing field between the sensor and the vessel wall will change. Once the amount of change exceeds a threshold that was electronically determined during the calibration process, an output relay will either be energized or de-energized depending upon the position of the fail-safe selector on the probe’s electronic circuit board. A change of as little as .5 pico-farad is all that is necessary for the probe to sense the presence of material.
