BINATROL® Diaphragm
Bin Monitor Provides Economical, Reliable Point Level
Detection
Monitor Technologies' BINATROL® diaphragm
level switch is a durable, low maintenance and cost-effective
way to monitor levels of powder and bulk solids in
storage bins, silos, and vessels. The BINATROL can
also be used to eliminate bin overflows and detect
plugged or backed-up conveyor chutes for some applications.
The BIN-ATROL switch is flush mount
and non-intrusive which makes it ideal for vessels
limited in size or internal clearance or in situations
where protrusion is not wanted. It can be used on either
flat or curved surfaces. Typical material applications
for BINATROL include: grain, seed, wood chips, sawdust,
powders, cement and more.
The BINATROL unit can be installed,
adjusted for sensitivity, and maintained from outside
the vessel. All parts are accessible from outside the
storage bin without having to remove the mounting flange. The
BINATROL is installed to allow its sensing diaphragm
to be exposed to the material being detected. Bulk
material contacting the unit applies a pressure that
is detected by the diaphragm. This pressure detection
activates an internal switch that is user accessible
for signaling alarms or other methods to indicate material
presence. Also, BINATROL® diaphragm
switches are mechanical devices that require no input
power.
Monitor offers a variety of diaphragm
bin level indicators that can be configured with various
switch sensitivities, diaphragm materials and approval
ratings.

Microwave solids flow detectors can
be used in a variety of applications including feed mills & grain processing,
consumer foods (cereal, sugar, cocoa, coffee), chemicals & pesticides
and more. For example, one company uses Monitor’s Model SFD-2
solids flow detector to verify the flow of feed pellets through their
various transport lines which involves a process where a horizontal
screw auger is conveying pellets over to a vertical gravity chute. The
chute then directs the pellets to a process down below. They have
carefully placed the SFD-2 so that it detects the pellets as they
fall directly across the sensor face. (See Below)
The Model SFI and SFD-2 line of solids flow detectors
from Monitor Technologies, LLC provide analog or relay outputs
to indicate the flow / no-flow condition of powder and bulk solids
materials in chutes and pneumatic conveying lines. Using
microwave Doppler radar technology these units are non-invasive
plus extremely reliable and rugged to withstand the rigors of the
installation and your process extremes. From automated systems
with pneumatic lines to gravity chutes, solids flow monitors can
help to improve process performance. They can assist in detecting
flow problems, as well as, enhance the level of automation at a
facility like turning a conveyor on or off.
