SafePoint® Rotary
Paddle Point Level has Automatic Failure Indication
In the processing, production and
storage of powders and bulk solids the reliable monitoring
of high level conditions in bins and silos is important. With
the SafePoint® rotary paddle point level indicator,
if a failure is detected an output will indicate that
this condition exists, providing you the warning needed
to prevent a spill. If a level monitor fails
to function properly, large costs due to overfilling
of the silo can occur. The costs can include
material loss, cleanup, lost production and even regulatory
costs. This is why the SafePoint® point level sensor
from Monitor Technologies is the best choice for powder
and bulk solid processors worldwide.
The SafePoint detects material presence
plus continuously monitors its own ability to function.
This monitoring includes sensor health and system power
failure, which makes the SafePoint truly “fail-safe”.
The SafePoint incorporates patented use of Hall-effect
technology, dual outputs to indicate both material
presence and unit health, and microcontroller technology
to continuously protect bulk solids processing and
storage from the effects of unknown sensor failure
by providing immediate indication of a sensor failure
and confirmation of proper operation.
Other features of the SafePoint include
rugged construction, twist On/Off cover for bolt free
removal, motor shut-off when paddle becomes impeded,
and local status indicating light (on most models).

Microwave solids flow detectors can
be used in a variety of applications including feed mills & grain processing,
consumer foods (cereal, sugar, cocoa, coffee), chemicals & pesticides
and more. For example, one company uses Monitor’s Model SFD-2
solids flow detector to verify the flow of feed pellets through their
various transport lines which involves a process where a horizontal
screw auger is conveying pellets over to a vertical gravity chute. The
chute then directs the pellets to a process down below. They have
carefully placed the SFD-2 so that it detects the pellets as they
fall directly across the sensor face. (See Below)
The Model SFI and SFD-2 line of solids flow detectors
from Monitor Technologies, LLC provide analog or relay outputs
to indicate the flow / no-flow condition of powder and bulk solids
materials in chutes and pneumatic conveying lines. Using
microwave Doppler radar technology these units are non-invasive
plus extremely reliable and rugged to withstand the rigors of the
installation and your process extremes. From automated systems
with pneumatic lines to gravity chutes, solids flow monitors can
help to improve process performance. They can assist in detecting
flow problems, as well as, enhance the level of automation at a
facility like turning a conveyor on or off.
